The trees are growing so well. Planting just before the rainy season was a major factor in this success. We pray for the roots to reach deep down so they can survive the long drought for months....
THERE IS OUR LITTLE WALTER THAT HAS RECOVERED FROM HIS SEVERE CASE OF MALARIA. THE TREATMENT WAS EFFECTIVE. HE IS NOW ON A SPECIAL SUPPLEMENT TO BUILD HIS BLOOD AND RECEIVES REGULAR BALANCED MEAL 3 TIMES A DAY. PLUS SNACKS IN BETWEEN.
WE ARE SO APPRECIATIVE OF JOAN WHO CHOSE TO BECOME HIS SPONSOR. THIS IS THE BEST XMAS GIFT ONE CAN OFFER TO ANOTHER, ESPECIALLY IN PLACES WHERE IT SAVES LIVES. THIS LITTLE MAN IS JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER CHILD; HE DESIRES TO EAT, TO PLAY, TO GO TO SCHOOL......AN EASY REQUEST TO FULFILL FOR THE COST OF 2 LATEs A WEEK !
This young boy is Walter. I brought him to the Clinic from the Tribe as he was not eating and complaining of headache (fever) and stomach ache. Lab test revealed a severe case of Malaria which caused him very bad anemia (his B12 level was critically low). The Doctor admitted him immediately. He is now under our care but still needing IV treatment every day. His health has not improved much yet. We need Prayers for this young child. We are also asking for donation to help with medical bills. This child is in great need of a sponsor. If you have it in your Heart to make a difference this Xmas, please consider this lovely child. He deserve a chance a Life like any other child. For the price of a Late twice a month, you can have the JOY of changing this little person's life.
BE the CHANGE MAKER !!
IT WAS A VERY SUCCESSFUL TRIP WITH A NEW GARDEN CREATED FOR THE PARKATI COMMUNITY.
WE WERE SO FORTUNATE TO RECEIVE A DONATION THAT ENABLED US TO HIRE JOSEPH, THE PERMACULTURE SPECIALIST IN KENYA, TO COME TO PARKATI TO HELP US DESIGN THE PROJECT.
HERE ARE PICTURES OF THE PROCESS !
JOSEPH PLANTING A MORINGA TREE !
THE WOMEN CARRIED WATER AND DIRT FOR THE BEDS!
WE PROTECTED THE GARDEN WITH A FENCE
WE PLANTED MULBERRY, MORINGA, PAPAYA AND ALOE VERA
WE PLACED DRIP IRRIGATION BAGS AROUND THE MULBERRY TO GIVE THEM A BETTER CHANCE
A 70 % SHADING NET WAS PLACED ON TOP TO PROTECT THE GARDEN FROM THE SCORCHING SUN!
FINISHED PROJECT.....WE JUST PRAY FOR WONDERFUL FOOD TO COME OUT OF THIS MAGICAL GARDEN !
AS WE ARE CELEBRATING THIS WONDERFUL THANKS GIVING DAY WITH OUR FAMILIES, I JUST ZIPPED UP THE LAST OF MY TRAVEL BAGS !
THIS JOURNEY TO KENYA IS VERY EXCITING AS WE HAVE HIRED THE PERMACULTURE TEACHER FROM PRI KENYA TO HELP US PLAN AND DEVELOP THE FOOD FOREST IN PARKATI VILLAGE. JOSEPH WILL ACCOMPANY ME TO THE COMMUNITY AND INSTRUCT ALL THAT WANT TO LEARN ABOUT CARING FOR THE LAND AND CREATING SELF-SUSTAINING FOOD SUPPLY !
A LOT MORE ON THAT WHEN I RETURN IN NOVEMBER,
BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL ON THIS GRATITUDE DAY !
Our 2 orphans being best friends in the new journey that sponsorship has created for them !
From our perspective it is easy to underestimate the extent to which a sponsorship reaches.
When i look at these 2 boy's faces.....i just marvel at the changes that have taken place within themselves.
I see so much LOVE and GRATITUDE in their smiles. It totally affirms the work we are doing in that community!
It took us a long time to finish this project as other priorities always interfered with it. Our budget is limited and we have to keep up with Education Fees. But today is a celebration for Grand Mother as she watches her Dream coming to completion !
Our carpenters are doing a fabulous job: framing windows and building doors, etc. We are so proud of their accomplishment.
Some of our children in Parkati receiving a bit of help. These children are all waiting for a sponsor to help the family receive adequate nutrition. With your help, Miracles abound !
We sent Samuel to a Permaculture course in Nakuru. The more people from the community embrace the knowledge, the easier it will be to implement the development of the site!
The course is both Theory and practice. The best way to learn is to do it yourself!
It is very promising to see the enthusiasm. Our wish is to bring the teacher to the community!!
We are asking for help on that!
THIS LEG BELONGS TO SAMWEL, OUR FISHING PROJECT MANGER !
HE FELL WITH HIS BIKE AND BROKE A BONE IN HIS ANKLE. HE HAD TO BE TRANSFERRED TO MARALAL HOSPITAL (14 HRS JOURNEY) TO RECEIVE AN XRAY AND A CAST.
HE IS JUST HAVING IT REMOVED NOW AFTER 5 WEEKS AND IS LEARNING TO EXERCISE HIS FOOT TO REGAIN HIS MOBILITY. IT MAKES US APPRECIATE THE COMMODITIES WE HAVE AT OUR FINGER TIPS HERE IN THE WEST, IMAGINE HAVING TO DRIVE FROM VANCOUVER TO CALGARY TO GET AN XRAY!!!!
